Mold That Can Grow In Your Carpets

By Aydan Corkern

If your carpet gets wet and you don't get it out and it sets there for a long time, it will soak into the carpet and the floor, which will cause moisture to set in. Then after a while, black mold might grow. The black mold that will grow under there will be very toxic and dangerous for you and your family. It will also cause mildew; the mildew and mold will multiply and spread into a big area of your carpet. You can get this from a leaky roof, overflowed sinks like your kitchen or bathroom sinks, a carpet cleaner that leaves it wet in your carpet for a very long time, and a broken or leaky pipes. These will definitely cause water damage, and we all know that it will cause mold and will damage your house.

When water gets in the carpet or around the carpet, it spreads very fast, even if it is a very small amount of water. It will soak into the fabric and the padding underneath it. When it soaks through that, it will get in the floorboards, which will soak and set in the wood causing that area to get or stay damp.

Black mold is also called killer mold and is not good at all for the health, and if you have a weak immune system, you will suffer the most because it hits you harder than everyone else that has a stronger immune system when they are exposed to it for a long time. If your carpet gets wet, then you need to get it dry as soon as possible so mold and mildew will not set in or grow in your house.

Sometimes you will be able to smell the odor in the air. It will smell like a nasty, musty odor that can be very strong, and it can make your eyes water. Don't put bleach on it to clean it because it will ruin your carpet by eating it up and taking the color right out of it. Then you will have to throw it away.

You can't get all of the mold out of your home, but you can stop it from growing by keeping your house dry and cool when it is hot. Because when it is hot outside, it will cause the humidity in your house to heat up and it will cause moisture in the air, which then causes mold to grow. You can have a dehumidifier in your house to keep moisture at the level it needs to be. You can also open the windows and the door so there is more airflow in your house, which keeps the moisture from setting in.
