He's been one of the reasons why Filipinos are proud to be Filipinos. His greatness surpasses everything that the country encounters. He has become an icon and a superstar at his own discipline. Manny Pacquiao provides the pride for Filipinos. Considered today as the best pound for pound fighter, Manny has become a crowd favorite not by just his fellow countrymen but also by other nationalities as well. He fights with heart and attacks with courage, putting his country's name to fame. How did Manny Pacquiao become such a great boxer? Well, let's start it off with his early years in General Santos City. That was the city where he was born and was raised. Being deprived of a good education, Manny Pacquiao chose to become a boxer in order to be successful. Boxing has been a famous sport in the country due to its rich history of great boxers such as Flash Elorde. As a young kid, Manny worked up his way to gain fights. He then moved to Manila to pursue his chosen career. In Manila, he fought many matches despite being younger than most of his opponents. His stay in Manila marked his start on becoming a known personality in Philippine Boxing. He was often included in cards that was featured on television. The nation got to know Manny from the show 'Blow By Blow'. He became a knockout sensation. The wonderful performances of Manny caught the attention of international promoters and he was given a chance to fight internationally. His biggest match that launched his international super stardom was the one against Mexican great Marco Antonio Barrera. Many floored the formerly vulnerable Barrera and caught the stunned Mexican. Manny won the fight by stoppage after a barrage of punches which resulted to Barrera's corner throwing in the towel. This started Manny Pacquiao's great career in the United States. Since then, he has fought and won over many great Mexican fighters such as Erik 'El Terrible' Morales, Juan Manuel Marquez, Hector Velasquez, Oscar Larios, Jorge Solis and just recently, David Diaz, who is an American boxer with Mexican roots. It can be concluded that Manny Pacquiao is the Mexican destroyer. His greatness has surmounted all of the Mexicans who stood in his way. Capturing his fourth title in his fourth weight class, Manny Pacquiao became the very first Asian to accomplish this feat. He has become one of the all-time greats that the Philippines has ever produced. He has become one of boxing's most respected fighters and he is one of those rare fighters who draw audiences every time he steps in the ring. He is an accomplished crowd-drawer and a big time boxer. His fame has put the Philippines back on the world map. Manny Pacquiao is simply an epitome of a typical Filipino warrior, a man of faith, with a good heart, fights with courage and never backs down. Manny Pacquiao, truly a Filipino pride. About the author James Brown writes about Football Fanatics key code, NBAStore.com key code and Mitchell & Ness key code |
